 NEWSLETTER :: WINTER 2011

 PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Welcome to the Holiday Season.

The MoFA board had a very productive meeting November 5 in Columbia, MO. The board has made revisions to the MoFA Constitution that will keep the organization growing for years to come. A revised list of job descriptions for all MoFA officers and chairs was also approved by the board.  SPEAKING OF FIBERS
By Barbara Zappulla, Exhibitions Coordinator

“Art after all is but an extension of language to the expression of sensation too subtle for words.” Robert Henri as quoted in Fiber Art Today, a newly published book by Carol K. Russell. MoFA donated this text to John Balthrushaus and the Maryville University Library in appreciation of their support for our Speaking Of Fibers! Exhibit, which was held in conjunction with Innovations in Textiles 9. Both the IT9 Bus Tour on October 1st and the gallery opening reception on October 6th were a success. Click here to see pictures from some of the exhibitions at IT9.

Victoria Crowder Payne, Juror, awarded Best In Show to Janet Wade for “Vespers Wall Altar”; Award of Merit for Surface Design to Dianna Callahan for “Ruby’s Red Socks”; Award of Merit for Best Use of Color to Shirley Nachtrieb for “Autumn”; Award of Merit for Technical Mastery to Peggy Wyman for “Out On A Limb”; Award of Merit for Best Contemporary Use of Fiber to Luanne Rimel for “Victory”; and Award of Merit for Best Representation of Exhibit Theme to Janita Loder for “Reading Is Fun!” Congratulations to all of our exhibitors.
